Children’s Carousel Museum
The Broad Ripple Park Carousel is a rare jewel of Americana—one of the country’s oldest Dentzel carousels, with a complex past and a triumphant restoration at The Children’s Museum. Meanwhile, P. Buckley Moss’s 1985 print beautifully celebrates its magic in wistful detail, making it a beloved piece of collectible art that resonates with carousel lovers everywhere.
The fully restored carousel, measuring 42 ft across with 42 animals (31 horses, plus goats, giraffes, a lion, tiger, deer), was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987.
Now housed in the “Carousel Wishes & Dreams” gallery on the 4th floor, it delights thousands yearly. Since 2023, riders are limited to children 17 and under to help preserve this precious artifact.
