Fall at the Clifton Mill
John Bryan State Park, part of the Buck Creek/John Bryan State Park Region, is a 752-acre Ohio state park in Green County, Ohio. The park surrounds Clifton Gorge, a deep cut of the Little Miami River between Yellow Springs and Clifton, Ohio. The park contains a campground, and hiking and biking trails. The park also abuts the Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve.
Clifton Mill backs up to the gorge and is a popular stop for lunch where you can have a leisurely meal and enjoy the scenery overlooking the natural gorge and flowing river. Decorated during the Xmas time with millions of lights, it is a must see during the holidays.
Clifton Mill, one of the oldest operating grist mills in the United States, has stood as a landmark of Ohio’s history since its construction in 1802. Nestled along the Little Miami River in Clifton, Ohio, this historic mill played a crucial role in the region’s early economy, grinding grain for settlers and later becoming a beloved destination. The mill’s picturesque red facade, rustic wooden beams, and scenic waterfall create an idyllic setting, especially in the fall when the landscape is ablaze with golden and crimson leaves.
P. Buckley Moss masterfully captures this autumnal beauty in her print Fall at the Clifton Mill. Known for her distinctive folk style, Moss brings warmth and nostalgia to this cherished scene. The print highlights the mill’s timeless charm, with rich fall hues enhancing the natural surroundings. The detailed rendering of the historic structure against the vibrant foliage evokes a sense of tranquility and tradition, making it a stunning addition to any art collection. Whether as a tribute to Ohio’s history or as a celebration of fall’s breathtaking colors, Fall at the Clifton Mill is a piece that resonates with those who appreciate both art and heritage.
