Description
Abilities by P. Buckley Moss
Content & Subject
Abilities is a rare, limited edition lithograph by P. Buckley Moss, created to celebrate strength, perseverance, and achievement. The composition is quilt-like, with individual panels featuring athletes and achievers with physical challenges, including wheelchair users, runners, and graduates. At the center, Moss places a hand forming the sign for “I Love You” in American Sign Language (ASL)—a universal message of empowerment and encouragement.
This piece was created to benefit the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center Foundation in Fishersville, Virginia, with a portion of the proceeds from the edition’s sale supporting their mission.
Style & Technique
Executed in Moss’s folk-art style, Abilities incorporates both her signature warmth and a modern quilt-inspired structure. Each figure represents not limitation but ability, determination, and triumph.
As with all Moss fine art editions, this lithograph is considered signed and numbered prior to release—either hand-signed before mid-1994 or marked with the artist’s signature matrix after that date.
Mood & Inspiration
The mood of Abilities is one of hope, resilience, and community support. Moss, whose art frequently uplifts individuals and causes, captures the spirit of independence and courage embodied by those who overcome obstacles with grace and strength.
Placement & Gift Ideas
Abilities is an especially meaningful piece for collectors drawn to Moss’s works of inspiration and advocacy. It is also a fitting gift for supporters of the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center Foundation, athletes, and those whose lives are touched by themes of perseverance and triumph.
Every Moss print is considered signed and numbered prior to release, whether through Pat’s personal hand-signature (pre-1994) or by the matrix of her signature applied to later editions.
